Perched on the steep hillside of Dionysovouni in Attica, Greece, Dionysos’ Edge is the latest residential project by PLINTHOS Architects, a contemporary architectural response to the raw beauty of the Greek landscape. Located in the mountainous, forest-filled area of Dionysos, the house is designed to seamlessly integrate with its dramatic natural surroundings.

The architectural concept of Dionysos’ Edge is rooted in the cliffside terrain itself. The house unfolds across four levels, with the first three embedded into the slope, forming a dark, solid base — a modern “plinth” that echoes the rocky mountain beneath it. Sitting lightly above this strong foundation, the fourth level appears as a bright, white prism: a square volume that contrasts both in material and character, offering a sense of grace, weightlessness, and balance.

The sharp lines and dynamic edges of the upper volume introduce a sculptural quality to the structure, giving Dionysos’ Edge its signature identity. Dark materials such as local stone, exposed concrete, and steel emphasize the solidity of the base, while white plaster on the top level enhances the lightness and clarity of the prism.

The residence is surrounded by curated landscape design that extends along the slope and frames the house in greenery. Outdoor spaces have been thoughtfully designed to offer a complete mountain-living experience: open-air lounges, a swimming pool, sunbathing terraces, a BBQ area, multiple sitting zones, and pergola-covered spots immerse guests in the tranquility of the forest and the grandeur of the views.
