Norma Interior completes the transformation of a former office space into modern short-term rental studios, in the heart of the Historic center of Athens. The kitchen, bathroom as well as sleeping area was placed to one side of the space with a round opening for the bathroom to receive natural light. Wanting these spaces to feel like a colorful cube against their very urban setting, different tones of blues and reds were used to enhance its original mosaic flooring.
During the first visit to the sight, architects fell in love with the original mosaic flooring, and decided to make it their starting point for our design process. Situated within the urban setting of central Athens, the colors were selected to create a nice contrast with the outdoors.
As these spaces were previously used as commercial offices, they decided to create a cube as their only separation that would accommodate the bathroom. On the sides of the cube they attached the main functionalities, the kitchenette, the bedframe and closet space.
The bathroom features square tiles and light blue grout, and a high glossy cyan ceiling to give the impression that you are situated under water, while a round window opening was used to allow natural light in. As these studios are used as short term rentals architects wanted to pair functionality and visual appeal.
