Located in the heart of central Athens, this apartment renovation by Eftekton Architects & Engineers explores the coexistence of timeless aesthetics and contemporary living through a balanced architectural composition. The apartment features notable interior architectural elements, including decorative ceiling moldings, symmetrical proportions, and classic wall paneling, which are carefully preserved and reinterpreted through a refined contemporary design language.
Architectural Identity
The project can be positioned within a Contemporary Neo-Classical Fusion framework, where modern living is integrated with distinctive architectural interior features. Timeless Contemporary Living reflects a design approach rooted in proportion, material authenticity, and long-term relevance rather than fleeting trends.
Materiality is layered to reinforce the project’s timeless quality. Dark wood wainscoting provides architectural depth and grounding, while a curved travertine surface introduces sculptural softness and movement. Herringbone wood flooring enhances the refined character of the interior, while minimalist kitchen finishes maintain clarity and balance. Selected works of art are integrated into the design, positioned on the walls as an integral part of the architectural composition, along with sculptures displayed throughout the residence.
Spatial organization is defined by flexibility and controlled fluidity. Folding panels with metal framesand fluted glass operate as transitional elements between the living room, dining area, and kitchen. These adaptable boundaries allow the space to shift between openness and privacy without interrupting visual continuity or natural light flow.
