Industrial aesthetics + warm textures adorn Rooster’s barbershop interiors in Galatsi, Athens

Located in Galatsi, Athens, Rooster’s is a 122m² corner barbershop conceived as a hybrid space that combines grooming with social interaction and everyday urban activity. Designed, by KARN Studio, as an open and highly transparent environment, the project establishes a strong relationship with the street through large perimeter glazing that allows natural light to penetrate deep into the interior while maintaining continuous visual contact with the city.

The layout is organized into two distinct yet connected zones. The entrance area functions as a small café and waiting space, gradually transitioning into the main barbering area towards the back of the shop. The absence of rigid separations preserves the openness of the plan, while semi-transparent curtains subtly screen the staff area without interrupting the spatial continuity.

“The material palette is restrained and minimal, defined by grey and white tones that enhance the brightness of the space”.

A continuous polished cement floor reinforces the industrial identity of the project, while exposed installations and suspended linear lighting emphasize its clean and functional character. Vibrant yellow barber chairs and carefully placed yellow accents introduce contrast and rhythm, creating a recognizable visual identity within the otherwise neutral environment. Natural light, reflective surfaces and greenery soften the industrial atmosphere, creating a contemporary and welcoming interior that balances clarity, functionality and everyday comfort.
