English description: In the heart of Thessaloniki, on Tsimiski Street, an old 6th floor apartment was transformed, by Interior Designer Fani Antoniou, into a special Endocrinology and Diabetology Clinic. The initially long and narrow space was divided and designed specifically to serve the functional needs of its users and at the same time to be identified with a modern, elegant and timeless aesthetic, presenting individual classic elements in their most modernized version.
The main goal, which guided the design philosophy of the Project, was to achieve a more “friendly” stylistic approachto the user’s experience, while maintaining the decency of a medical space. The avoidance of a dull and aesthetically cold space was proposed from the first stage of the study, and in combination with the preservation of the wooden floor in herringbone formation as well as the new company logo were the central inspiration for the composition of the final Concept.
Velvet textures in blue-gray and gold shades were selected and combined with curved forms, bronze metals, gold and white lacquers, ceramics in marble facades and a strong presence of wood. Opposite the entrance, the Reception furniture was designed with hidden lighting, in glossy white and gold lacquer. In the comfortable waiting area, which can accommodate up to 10 people, 3 different seating areas were designed.
The original composition consists of a three-seater sofa in blue velvet texture, a wooden wall construction with discreet use of an open wardrobe and two paintings signed by Alekos Fasianos, framed with selected materials.
Next to this, in the center of the area, there is a, specially, designed furniture from oakwood and white glass being used as a Coffee center with a built-in mini bar. Then, next to the opening doors on the way to the balcony, taking advantage of the natural light of the spot, an imposing library was set up with mainly medical books and magazines, a glass stand with two comfortable half-benches and two special bronze pendant lamps with airy forms.
At the end of the waiting area and before entering the room with the medical equipment, the space is squared and the visitor encounters circular sitting forms in velvet textures that aim at his temporary relaxation before the examination.
Modern corner offices and bookcases were designed with hidden lighting and special document storage areas in black matt embossed oak wood combined with glossy materials such as white glass and ceramicin marble appearance.
The usual leather guest chairs were replaced with chairs of contemporary design and special fabrics were chosen with a friendly feeling in their texture. Lighting played a decisive role in the atmosphere of these spaces: metal hanging rails were designed in off black electrostatic painting with spot discrete lighting towards the offices and dual function with the possibility of general lighting depending on the natural scenarios of use.
