Scavolini introduces its innovative new product, Box Life, envisioned by international design studio Rainlight and its creative director Yorgo Lykouria, in collaboration with HOK, designers of some of the most significant works of contemporary architecture, including The Dali Museum, Mercedes Benz Stadium and Hamad International Airport.
Stemming from the desire to offer its clientele a way to create various domestic scenes in an organised and functional manner, Box Life is a smart interior design concept marked by elegance and customisation. It conceals endless functions while bringing together the living and sleeping areas to ensure the utmost flexibility of spaces.
“An unprecedented comprehensive and modular system, distinguished by superior adaptability, Scavolini and Rainlight designed Box Life to support the increasingly nomadic lifestyle of sophisticated city dwellers and those who have limited square footage available but do not want to forgo comfort”.
The heart of the project is the idea of concealing to keep things neat and tidy: Box Life cabinets can in fact contain a kitchen, a bed behind a vertical bottom-hinged flap, storage space or a laundry area.
Access to the operating areas is granted by various opening systems, from retractable doors, to folding, sliding or bottom-hinged flap doors devised to suit the needs of the customer as well as the space to furnish.
This modular, flowing project makes it possible to create linear, corner or U-shaped solutions that are responsive to the setting, and where the undisputed starring role is played by the panelling.
The exemplary “Switch” cupboards feature retractable doors, which can house up to four appliances, an additional sliding worktop, multiple shelves and storage drawers, as well as sliding systems for the living area and for the cabinets in the sleeping area.
Box Life is the perfect merger of striking style with functionality. The handles and pulls were devised to guarantee comfort and the utmost stylistic continuity: recessed handles are fitted on the external panels, whereas the panels on the inside can be opened with a pull. The cabinet is also equipped with specific lighting systems for the panelled unit and for the sleeping area cabinets.
This unprecedented system is ideal for the compact and bijoux contemporary home, where the distinction between kitchen, living room and bedroom is increasingly blurred. Designed especially for the contract furnishing market, Box Life accommodates both the desire for custom-made environments as well as the widespread requirement on the part of designers to find standardised solutions to accommodate new lifestyles.
Scavolini was founded in Pesaro in 1961 thanks to the entrepreneurship of brothers Valter and Elvino Scavolini. In just a few years, the small artisan company specialising in kitchen production turns into one of the most important Italian industrial companies. In 1984, Scavolini becomes the industry’s market leader for Italy, a position which it continues to hold to this day.
The company expands considerably in a short time and nowadays boasts an industrial plant – at Group level – covering 240,000 m² (of which 110,000 m² indoors) that houses over 660 employees. The results of the company’s efforts are highlighted by the Group turnover figure that reached 215 million Euro in 2017. In addition, ancillary component suppliers have sprung up over the years around the company and now constitute an essential factor in the development of the local region.
